Start high above the city at Nydalen and follow the Akerselva river all the way down to the fjord. The route traces Oslo's old industrial spine — former textile mills, brick factories, and power stations now reborn as galleries, cafés, and creative studios. You'll pass a string of waterfalls, cross historic iron footbridges, and run straight through Grünerløkka, Oslo's most beloved neighborhood. We pause briefly at Mathallen food hall (worth a return visit later) before finishing near Vaterland, where the river meets the fjord. This is the run locals do.
Highlights: Akerselva waterfalls · Old industrial Oslo · Grünerløkka · Mathallen food hall · Street art · Iron footbridges · Beyer Bridge · Ends near Oslo Central Station

Oslo-based product director by day, running tour host by slightly earlier in the day. Also the founder of Iver; because I kept wanting to run with locals when travelling and figured other people probably did too.

Running down the Akerselva. We finished near Mathalen and went straight back there for lunch afterwards.
Grünerløkka, the street art, the iron footbridges.. Loved every bit of it.
